Da molti ritenuto l’ultimo grande disco della band, come è noto Disintegration fu masterizzato assai male. Inoltre i CD stampati in quegli anni erano, in generale, di bassa qualità e per il vinile le etichette puntavano spesso al risparmio affidando la stampa a chi operava con gli stessi principi. Persino le copie americane uscite dal primo pressaggio (solitamente riservate ai giornalisti) furono deludenti, per non parlare della scandalosa stampa italiana, la peggiore tra le tante esistenti al pari di quella venezuelana o polacca, LPs ricavati da una copia CD che già era scadente.
Finalmente Robert Smith ha messo mano ai nastri di studio per far ascoltare degnamente questo splendido album. I tempi sono decisamente cambiati: ci sono tecnologie migliori di mastering e di stampa dei supporti, c’è più informazione, c’è una consapevolezza più diffusa delle grandi potenzialità che offre un vinile inciso bene ed un ritorno di interesse per l’ascolto domestico di buona qualità. E così Disintegration rinasce come doppio LP -meno brani ci sono per lato e meglio è- ed include sia Homesick che Last dance, all’epoca presenti solo nell’edizione CD.
